Newport Beach

While in California, we spent nearly an entire day at Newport Beach.  It was super busy and so we had to drive around for a bit to find a place to park...but it ended up working out because we found a free place to park in a neighborhood and we were just a couple blocks from the beach but in an area that wasn't super crowded.  There were people and a lifeguard, but there was plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the sand, the sun and the surf.
I like this quote from Pierce Harris, "Memory is a child walking along a seashore.  You never can tell what small pebble it will pick up and store away among its treasured things."
Newport Beach is beautiful.  Look at the gorgeous color of the water.  I loved just looking for as far as the eye could see and seeing water and waves and sky.  It's so beautiful and peaceful and brings a special kind of happiness and contentment.

The waves were huge.  And they crash fairly high up on the beach.  It wasn't like some beaches where the wave crashes and then the gentle water flows up a ways and then back out.  Also, the waves carried a ton of sand.  We were covered in sand by the time we left.  But it was fun playing in the waves.

There was sunshine in our souls (and eyes!) that day!

Alfredo's friend Adrian and his wife and two daughters met us at the beach.  The girls had fun splashing in the waves together.  They've visited us in Utah several years ago, so it was neat to see the girls all become good friends again right away.
