Salt Lake Temple

My dear friend Brenda and her daughter Aelora came for a visit.  They came on Monday and left Friday, so it was a quick trip.  But it was wonderful to see them. I have missed Brenda since she moved to Japan to work at a Department of Defense school.

While Brenda and Aelora were here, we headed downtown to the Salt Lake Temple.  Brenda and Aelora came with us and Aly and her family came as well.  Aly, Max, Annie, Michelle and Ella all went to do baptisms at the Salt Lake Temple. Brenda, Aelora, Gabby, Sofie and I walked around the grounds.  We went through the South Visitor Center and admired the model of the temple and read the displays about the building of the temple.  We also talked to two cute sister missionaries.  One strange thing that happened while we were enjoying the grounds.  We were sitting next to the reflection pool when a man walked up to us and started talking to the kids.  He told them that he was a Ute, that he was from Flagstaff, Arizona and that he had an eagle feather and showed them his tattoo of a feather.  Then he told them that he did not believe their religion, that he did not believe their Mormon faith (Brenda and Aelora aren't LDS).  By this point, Brenda and I noticed and started to listen.  He said that we stole his land and that he did not believe our faith.    Brenda was really bothered and surprised by this...she asked why he would come to the temple to tell us, especially to tell children, that he doesn't agree with their religion.  As I have grown up seeing protesters and anti-Mormons at various events, it didn't surprise me all that much.  But other than that event, we had a really nice time on Temple Square.  It's so beautiful.  We also went to the Nauvoo Cafe and got some treats.
