New Mexico: Blue Hole, Santa Rosa Lake and campground,

On Tuesday, we had a calmer day.  Wednesday had been incredible, but jam packed.   Wednesday we slept in a little bit.  We had a leisurely breakfast and the kids played at the playground at the campground.  Then we walked down to the Santa Rosa Lake.  We thought maybe the kids could play in the sand and perhaps even swim.

But as we got closer to the lake, we realized this lake was not going to be a lake to swim in.  There was no sandy beach...just shrubs and cactus right up to the water's edge.  It was pretty but the kids were so disappointed that they couldn't swim that they didn't want to walk any farther.  They wanted to head back to camp and head to Blue Hole.

So that's what we did.  We headed to Blue Hole.  It was freezing cold....and it is all the time.  Because of the intake/outtake of water, it is always the same temperature.  People go scuba diving in it. The water is a gorgeous blue.  It was smaller than I had pictured but quite pretty.  But cold enough that none of the kids swam for long and several only stuck their feet in.  That's all I did.  I was the designated photographer.  Crazy Annette not only swam in it but jumped off two different diving spots.  :)  I'm a boring mom so I didn't.

After Blue Hole, we just relaxed. The kids played at the playground some more. We all took warm showers. We did an Easter craft. I read. The kids played. We relaxed. It was nice to have a slow paced day.
