San Diego: Day 2 (Friday)

We packed A LOT into Friday.

First, we went to the San Diego Temple and did sealings.

After we finished at the temple, we headed to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve to hike and explore.   While the beauty of Torrey Pines is certainly different than the canyons or mountains of Utah, it definitely did contain beauty.  Torrey pines are a rare pine tree growing only in this area of San Diego and on one of the Channel Islands.  They are pretty interesting to see.  And on many of the hikes, you have incredible ocean views as well.

Ocean views and my wonderful mom and sister!

I thought this rock formation was so cool looking!  I wish it had a sign explaining the geology of these rocks.  There were several spots that had really remarkable geological sights.
After doing several hikes around Torrey Pines, we went to the beach there for just a few minutes.  I enjoyed watching some dolphins swimming in the water there.

Not great photos, but that is a dolphin.

There were at least 3 dolphins swimming together.

We went to lunch at Souper Salad (delicious!) and then headed to La Jolla.  It was beautiful at La Jolla and the weather was fantastic.  We spent a couple of hours relaxing on the beach, wading in the water, and walking along the shore.

There's still more to Friday, but I'm going to break it into a second post.
